"But [Onyx]? Why you so mad?" -Eminem
I was eating dinner with the majordomo of Hey Mister yesterday and we got to talking about Onyx. Remember Onyx? I barely do. Here is a list of everything I remember about Onyx:
- They were all bald, wore baggy clothes, loved guns and shoving each other out of the way.
- They scream-rapped everything.
- They did a post-Judgement-Night-rap/rock-mashup-version of their big hit Slam, which involved Biohazard and more screaming.
- There was a B-side to the Throw Ya Gunz single (which I owned on cassingle) called BLACVAGINAFINDA.
- In terms of brand image consistency, Onyx was basically the Ramones.
- Sticky Fingaz went on to perform in the TV version of Blade.
- They are very, very mad.
But WHY is Onyx so mad? To get to the bottom of this, Hey Mister and The 21 Gun Salute went directly to Sticky Fingaz, Fredro Starr, Sonsee, and Big DS and asked them.
